Volume 1 offers unusual pieces including using the piano lid as a percussion instrument,
an atonal firework piece based on contrary motion, a piece using harmonics plus many
other pieces based on patterning to ease note-reading in its early stages.

Volume 2 is dedicated to the modes, there being two pieces in each mode. Each piece
focuses on the peculiarity of the individual mode e.g. flattened 2nd of the Phrygian, diminished 4th of Lydian.
Book 3
Volume 3 is 4 and 6-handed music with all the parts playable by pupils. There are several
folksong arrangements and also a group of pieces using black keys only.
Book 4
Volume 4 is a mock-Vivaldi concerto for 4 hands written in the Baroque style of the time.
